Why Choose a Flyover Patio?

Flyover patios lift your roofline so hot air can escape, and natural light can come in. It’s a simple design change that makes a big difference, especially on the Sunshine Coast where airflow matters.

Flyovers feel open and modern without needing the full box-gutter system, so they’re a great match for many homes and budgets

The Benefits of Flyover Patios

A Cooler, More Comfortable Outdoor Area

By raising the roof above your gutter line, you get better ventilation and a cooler space on warm days.

Extra Height for a Spacious Feel

That bit of extra headroom can make even smaller outdoor areas feel more open.

Flyover patios Allow More Natural Light

With the roof lifted, you get brighter living spaces and better connection to the outdoors.

Flyover Patios Give a Clean, Modern Look

Flyovers give your home a fresh, low-profile style without major structural changes.

Affordable Alternative to Box-Gutter Systems

You still get the extra height and airflow, but without the cost of a premium box gutter.

A box-gutter flyover may be worth considering if you’re chasing maximum height or need stronger wet-weather performance.

Flyover Patios vs Box-Gutter Flyover? What’s the Difference?

  • A regular flyover lifts the patio roof above your home’s gutter line to give you more height, airflow and natural light. It’s raised on both sides and uses standard guttering, so it’s a simple and cost-effective way to open up your outdoor area.
  • A box-gutter flyover does the same, but with one key upgrade. The back edge of the patio roof is tied into your house roof with a purpose-built box gutter system. This lets us raise the patio even higher and gives you cleaner lines and better drainage in heavy rain.
  • If you want maximum height and a sharper architectural look, the box-gutter option is usually the better pick. If you want extra airflow and a modern feel without the premium gutter system, a regular flyover is a great choice.

Flyover Patios FAQs

Once approved, the build usually takes 1–3 weeks, depending on size and materials.

What’s the difference between a flyover and a box-gutter flyover?

Will a flyover patio suit my home?

Most homes can support a flyover design. We’ll check your site and let you know what will work best.
